An interesting island malt, with a unique style and character: in spite of coming from a coastal distillery, there is almost no evidence of salty and maritime aromas. On the contrary, it’s a very farmy and fruity sweet dram! The nose is where the farminess is more evident, with autumnal notes of wet leaves and earth like a walk in the woods after the rain, and of butter and cheese. There’s just a hint of very ripe fruits, but it’s only at the first sip that the fruity sweetness really starts to shine: candied oranges, peaches, red apples, raspberries. The sweet character, though, never becomes cloying, thanks to a zesty tang and a very clean and mineral body, which is quite contrasting with the very organic nose. Very unusual, a malt full of contrasting impressions which will keep you intrigued for hours.
