While not completely different in style to cask 5750 bottled as a Collector’s Edition, this one has its own peculiarities. Originally higher in alcohol content, it was necessary to tame its fury to a more approachable strength… and when we did so, it opened up beautifully! The spicy and oaky nose is balanced by more organic notes of sweet overripe fruits. The same sweetness explodes on the palate, with heather honey, a touch of mustard, and a pleasant slightly toasted taste that is well suited to its quite thick mouthfeel. The ripe fruits (apples, bananas, pears) return in the aftertaste for a while, before leaving a clean and mineral sensation in the mouth. A very old, easily enjoyable and not so oaky Glenlivet
