This classic Edinburgh grain whisky is a treasure for connoisseurs, and it shines only after decades of patient maturation to let its subtle flavours sing. Finished in first fill Oloroso sherry for 30 months to enhance its body, it still remains a delicate whisky nonetheless. Aromatically ethereal, its nose does not betray its age at all: so fresh, breezy, a whisky that is springtime in a glass. Notes of fragrant mint, rosemary and thyme, on a clean background of vanilla, cereals and butter. It’s equally delicate on the palate, with the same creamy sweetness, not cloying but caressing, and pleasant notes of green tea, medicinal herbs and a hint of liquorice too. The long maturation and the influence from the oak start to become evident only towards the end, with a tannic crescendo that still remains extremely silky.
