A nostalgic bottling of a very old whisky in the classic – and nowadays rarer and rarer – style of full Oloroso sherry maturation. The long unhurried influence of the cask brought a dark golden colour and a very distinctive nose: rich of oxidative notes, old furniture, beeswax, medicinal herbs, and a touch of bitter cocoa. Raisiny, dark, with endless olfactory complexity and long development in the glass. The taste is dry, old fashioned, with marked tannins but still very smooth and not dominated by the oak: not a fruity or sweet whisky, on the contrary it’s quite spicy and slightly astringent, but it has a firm maltiness and a very lively presence. A moderate addition of water will help it to release its creamy complexity, unfolding its layers of flavour.
