This new release of our House Malt follows the usual style of this series: a rich, smoky and tasty Islay single malt with a warming and velvety softness of character. Compared to previous editions, this new bottling is perhaps more restrained and delicate to the nose. More organic, farmy and with notes of flour and cereals, and slightly winey, too. At the palate, though, the smokiness which had previously stayed in the background finally explodes, but it’s not simply a peat feast: once again, it’s an incredibly complex and multi-faceted malt which seems much older than its age, with lots of liquorice, an intriguing interplay of sweet, nutty and dry, and a touch more pepper than usual. Once more, a bargain you can’t miss!
