This sister cask of our beloved Cask#30 from the same vintage shares a lot of the same surprises… a lovely malt from a little known distillery, with a richness that is hard to find in modern malts. What makes this bottling slightly different is that while the incredibly fruity nose and palate are quite similar (with stunning notes of overripe tropical fruits), the sweet and estery notes are slightly more restrained, and have to fight with an even deeper minerality and tannins from the oak. From beginning to start, the fruitiness must arm wrestle for dominance with intense notes of red Pu-erh tea, wood polish, and medicinal herbs infusion… even more than in Cask#30. A lovely and complex old malt, truly deserving of Collector’s status!
