Located on the western coast of the Lowlands, facing the Isle of Arran, this distillery founded in 1963 (on the grounds of a WWII weapons factory) uses six column stills and a mix of 90% wheat and 10% malted barley for production of its clean and precise grain whisky. Its subtle, elegant profile starts to shine only after many years of aging in refill casks (not to overwhelm the spirit), as in this special series of very old bottlings. A delicate, perfumed and aromatic grain whisky, with a chiselled and straight profile: mint, camphor, liquorice root, and an underlying crisp sweetness. The oak is not intrusive, with delicate tannins and a fragrant note of vanilla. Ideal with a splash of cool water, or even on ice.
