This younger brother of our 31yo Macduff bottled a few months ago replicates some of its fruity character, but in a more delicate, fresh and flowery style. At the nose, it is rich on candied oranges and red apples, with a fragrant aroma of rose petals. A similarly fruity and flowery scenario is offered on the palate, but here the winey notes of the sherry become more evident, with nuts, dried peaches and a hint of chestnut honey. The overall impression is not exceedingly sweet, though, as the dryness from the oloroso cask is always lingering in the background, becoming more and more evident towards the end with a slightly tannic oaky note, spicy and with a touch of black coffee.
