Fruity and robust Speyside whiskies are a match made in heaven with the even fruitier and sweeter taste of Tokaji, and Wilson & Morgan wants to celebrate a long partnership with WhiskyNet: the best way to do it, is an exclusive release only for the Hungarian market with a 12 months finish in a Patricius cask. We didn’t want the wine to overwhelm the whisky, and we think we have achieved a fine balance. At the nose it’s ripe with dried apricots and peaches, sultana raisins and dates, but never heavy: on the contrary, it remains sunny and light-handed. There is a marked note of beeswax, and funky organic notes of wet hay. The same huge waxy character is found at the palate: it’s not immediately influenced by the Tokaji, it still remains a Speyside whisky, but the natural fruitiness and the honey are amplified. Towards the end, it becomes more mineral and even slightly peppery, without excesses of sweetness.
