The influence of dry Oloroso is always a classic that matches well with traditionally full bodied, fruity and rich Speyside malts such as this. The casks that we picked to finish this expression were a great choice to add a lively layer of spiciness that will please all sherry lovers. Already from the first whiff, you can feel that it’s quite oaky, with dark brooding notes of leather, and of course very winey and nutty. There is also a whisper of red fruits, but they are hidden behind the huge sherry. The same spiciness and tannic vibrancy are found at the palate: there is a touch of beeswax before it turns very dry, peppery, winey, astringent and with all the typical nuttiness of Oloroso. Add a drop of water, and its complexity and the background malty robustness will gradually unfold.
