The only distillery on the Isle of Mull, once known for wild and unpredictable malts, has now reached a level of perfection in making peated whiskies that rivals the ones from Islay. It’s a smoky whisky of great cleanness, with the typical dry, maritime, salty and fresh notes of the best malts from the islands of the West Coast. Almost sour and citrusy at the nose, it shows the strength of maturation in second fill bourbon casks to let the spirit speak. Slightly gentler than usual, it still packs a wallop in terms of ashy smoke. On the long term, and with the addition of a drop of water, the typically flowery and vegetal notes the distillery is famous for shine through. Power and finesse at the same time.
