We dedicated a special single cask bottling to what our taste found to be the funkiest and most flamboyant barrel in this wonderful batch of Speyside malt, impressively enriched by a 12 months finish in Pedro Ximenez. The aroma, as expected from this kind of finish, is raisiny, with dried plums too. There is a touch of freshly cut wood, but also a totally unexpected estery note that seems to bring us to Jamaica! At the palate it has that deep, round, thick and chewy richness which, on the other hand, reminds us of some American whiskies: sweet, very aromatic, with notes of vanilla, mint and camphor. Some toffee and dark chocolate too. A totally crazy bottling… maybe a bit “deviant” compared to what you would expect from Scotland, but a lot of fun and pleasure!
